Custodian selects Neos Networks to deliver ultra reliable connectivity between its flagship data centre and London

  • Neos Networks

London, April 26, 2016 Neos Networks, the UK’s leading provider of network infrastructure and data centre services, and part of the SSE Group – has today announced that it has been selected by Custodian Data Centres to deliver two diverse dark fibre routes to link its flagship data centre in Maidstone, Kent with two London-based facilities: Telehouse North and Level 3’s Goswell Road site.

Neos Networks already delivers high bandwidth connectivity services to Custodian, which enabled it to rapidly deploy diverse fibre network services to meet its latest requirements. The new dark fibre being provided by Neos Networks will support the continued growth of Custodian which requires increased network capacity as it completes the build of four new data floors. Custodian will be lighting the fibre itself, meaning that their existing connectivity to the capital will benefit from reduced latency of 0.4 m/s.

Due to the added reach afforded by the new network routes, providing high-speed and ultra-reliable connectivity between its main data centre and the capital, Custodian is now able to easily and cost-effectively co-locate and deliver its services to a wider customer base. With the new high-speed routes into London, Custodian has full control over its network and can manage core bandwidth requirements more effectively and easily accommodate any future increases in customer demand.

The partnership means that Custodian also benefits from Neos Networks’ high capacity optical networking service LIGHTNOW, which links 23 of London’s busiest data centres with 1Gbps and 10Gbps Ethernet wavelength connectivity. LIGHTNOW allows enterprises to select different data centres for different IT assets, which are connected as one data centre portfolio. Ultimately, this will give Custodian’s customers the ability to cherry pick data centres to achieve a truly best of breed service for its requirements, at the lowest possible price. This will also allow Custodian to further extend its reach as and when needed by immediately connecting additional locations in the capital, with round-the-clock support and at cost-effective prices.

Custodian’s CEO Rowland Kinch has been pleased with the solution, stating that: “Following the swift and successful implementation of the first dark fibre route, we look forward to the completion of the second phase. Investing in a future-proofed solution is also very important to us and the partnership with Neos Networks allows us to deliver this in line with our changing business needs and those of our customers.”

“Our successful existing relationship gave Custodian the assurance that we could deliver the ultra-reliable network services it needs,” said Colin Sempill, managing director at Neos Networks. “Always-on connectivity is an absolute must in order to keep pace with changing customer demands and we’re delighted to be delivering a solution that will meet Custodian’s requirements both now and in the future.”

Our successful existing relationship gave Custodian the assurance that we could deliver the ultra-reliable network services it needs.

The low latency, high-capacity, scalable network will enable seamless connectivity for financial reporting and collaborative working.

The data centre connectivity provided by Neos Networks has diverse North and South routes, making it ultra-resilient on a network that is based on market leading technology from Ciena. Neos Networks has also given MUFG the capability to light up to 40Gbps of capacity, providing scalability for future projects. This initial project was deployed on time, on budget and to the exact specifications laid out by the bank.

“We understand that the IT environment within banks is changing and their networks are coming under increasing pressure as new technologies – which are often cloud-based – are introduced, making it difficult to predict connectivity requirements whilst guaranteeing reliability and speed,” said Colin Sempill, managing director of Neos Networks. “This is why we place so much focus on working with our customers to understand their networking needs in context of the bigger picture. For MUFG, this meant reliability, a committed team, and the ability to open up capacity for future network requirements; the start of a solid partnership with the prestigious bank.”

“We are committed to providing our customers with the most competitive banking services in the market but this often requires additional IT installations that can put a strain on the existing networks,” said Philip Schunmann Associate Director EMEA at MUFG. “With Neos Networks, we no longer have to worry about the capacity requirements of projects coming down the pipeline. Additional network capacity, which can be deployed within minutes, means that we have a reliable telecoms infrastructure that can deliver banking services at the touch of a button.”

“The Neos Networks team has a thorough understanding of our wider business goals and we’re looking forward to a strong relationship where our connectivity capabilities push the boundaries of banking,” concluded Schunmann.

Mother Technologies boosts capacity and broadens UK network coverage with Neos Networks

  • Neos Networks

London, UK, 10 February 2016 Neos Networks, the UK’s leading provider of network infrastructure and part of the SSE Group – today announced that it has upgraded Mother Technologies’ core network between its head office in Europe’s oil and gas capital, Aberdeen, and London to boost the firm’s network coverage nationwide, while supporting its recent expansion in Scotland.

Having predominantly served the Aberdeen market for the last 12 years as an IT support and connectivity provider, Mother Technologies recently broadened its remit with a range of cloud hosting services and has opened new offices in Edinburgh and Glasgow. To cope with the additional network capacity demand stemming from the increase in services and the geographical expansion, Neos Networks delivered a new 1Gb core connection, which improves the company’s ability to scale and supports plans for future growth.

“With added demand for our services from within Scotland and further afield, we needed to ensure that we could continue to meet the high expectations we’ve set as a company,” said Steve Redhead, managing director of Mother Technologies. “The upgraded core network connection, between our headquarters in Aberdeen and London, ensures that our new and existing customers benefit from a high capacity UK-wide network.”

He continued: “As any rapidly growing business will tell you, having a scalable and ultra-reliable network in place is paramount. We now have the peace of mind that we can continue to grow our customer base without our network capacity hampering the level of service we’re able to provide.”

Key to Mother Technologies decision to enlist Neos Networks with the network upgrade was the strong existing partnership between the two companies. Neos Networks’ account director and engineers were in constant communication with Mother Technologies engineers to ensure that any issues were immediately resolved without delaying the project, which was completed within just a couple of months.

“As well as focusing on strengthening its presence in Scotland and deepening existing customer relationships, Mother Technologies also needed a high capacity connection to London in order to meet the needs of its growing UK-wide client base,” said Colin Sempill, managing director of Neos Networks. “Our excellent existing relationship gave Mother Technologies the confidence that its network would be upgraded quickly and easily by the same team that it has trusted for many years to deliver.”

With added demand for our services from within Scotland and further afield, we needed to ensure that we could continue to meet the high expectations we’ve set as a company.

Neos Networks broadens UK Ethernet coverage with launch of Project Edge, phase 2

  • Neos Networks

London, UK, 25th November 2015 Neos Networks, the UK’s leading provider of high availability connectivity services and part of the SSE Group – has today announced phase two of Project Edge. ‘Edge 2’ adds a further 33 BT exchanges to its existing 12,000+km, 232 Point of Presence (PoP) UK-wide fibre network. The deployment adds another 50,000 prime city centre business postcodes to the 200,000 introduced by phase one of Project Edge.

This latest initiative follows the success of the original Project Edge network expansion announced in November 2013 that saw 54 new Exchange PoPs – many of which were in London – added to the Neos Networks network. With the additional PoPs and by interconnecting with other leading fibre network service providers in the UK, as part of Edge Plus, Neos Networks initiated full UK-wide coverage. This first phase of the expansion made Neos Networks a more compelling Ethernet provider for service providers which require reliable connectivity to multiple locations up and down the country.

The Edge 2 initiative enables Neos Networks’ customers to purchase additional Ethernet services directly. In doing so, customers benefit from Neos Networks’ reputable delivery service wrap and highly resilient, extensive national network.

In the first quarter of 2015* service provider revenues from the global Ethernet market grew by just 1.4 percent year-over-year. Despite this, Neos Networks experienced a 250 percent increase in orders of its Ethernet services in the last 12 months, largely due to its investment in Project Edge and the Edge Plus services. That demand has indicated a clear need for broader connectivity and better service wraps.

“Our most recent network expansion initiatives have focused on adding 31 commercial data centres in London and Manchester that can deliver 1Gb and 10Gb waves in a week” said Colin Sempill, managing director of Neos Networks. “Edge 2 will see us invest once again in national Ethernet services, to meet the clear demand for high quality Ethernet connectivity across the nation revealed by Edge 1. By extending our core network capability to an additional 33 exchanges as part of Edge 2, our customers will now have even greater access to our high quality Ethernet and unique, best-of-breed service.”

Neos Networks’ diverse Ethernet customer base includes SGN, Marston’s Telecoms, Azzurri, HighNet and the University of Law.

This latest network investment will see Neos Networks’ fibre network extend to 33 BT exchanges in Aberdeen Denburn, Aylesbury, Birmingham Midland, Bolton, Bradford, Chelmsford, Cheltenham, Colchester, Darlington, Doncaster, Edinburgh Waverly, Farnborough, Glasgow Douglas, Gloucester, Harrogate, High Wycombe, Inverness, Ipswich, Leicester Montford, Lincoln, Loughborough, Maidstone, Newcastle, Norwich, Oldham, Oxford, Peterborough, Rochdale, Sheffield Attercliffe, Sheffield, Stockton, Wokingham and York.

Tampnet lights up oil and gas industry with Neos Networks

  • Neos Networks

London, UK, 13 October 2015 Neos Networks, the UK’s leading provider of network infrastructure and part of the SSE Group, today announced that it has been selected by Tampnet to upgrade its existing 10Gb managed service with a resilient, high quality dark fibre network that will enable it to connect assets in London and the heart of the European oil and gas industry in Aberdeen. The capacity and scalability of the solution provided by Neos Networks will also enable Tampnet to realise a longer-term objective; underpinning transatlantic connectivity via Scandinavia as opposed to traditional hubs in mainland Europe.

Tampnet is said to operate the largest offshore high capacity communication network in the world, carrying traffic for approximately 220 platforms in the North Sea and Gulf of Mexico. The company needed to ensure that its network could scale to accommodate growing demand from its customer base, while being able to support new business ventures.

“The key drivers behind our decision to scale our network was increased demand from our customers and the need to be able to take advantage of future business opportunities,” said Per Atle Sørensen, Sales Manager at Tampnet. “Our longstanding partnership with Neos Networks has ensured that our new and existing customers benefit from a guaranteed level of service across the UK. The latest dark fibre connection between the heart of the oil and gas industry in Aberdeen and London, will ensure that we can continue to improve on our service delivery and also support our longer-term ambition to underpin transatlantic connectivity via Scandinavia, rather than relying on traditional hubs in continental Europe.”

As an existing customer of Neos Networks, Tampnet was confident of its network provider’s experience in delivering high quality co-location services to remote locations. Having worked together closely on various projects in the past – including a joint venture with cloud hosting and data centre provider, brightsolid, to offer unprecedented network speed and bandwidth in Aberdeen and beyond – Tampnet was able to call on its dedicated account team at Neos Networks to discuss its evolving business requirements. In fact, the strong business relationship and cultural synergy between the two teams was just as important to Tampnet in its selection, as Neos Networks’ reputation for reliability.

Atle Sørensen continued: “Neos Networks is a much valued network partner and the flexibility and in-built scalability of its network gives us full confidence that it will continue to support our needs – and those of our customers – both now and in the years to come.”

Another important factor for Tampnet was the ability to have full autonomy of all active components within its infrastructure, which is exactly what Neos Networks has provided. Tampnet is now in the position to deliver reliable and robust services to its clients and can manage and rectify any issues immediately. Furthermore, Tampnet can now manage all of its off-shore facilities from one central location.

“We have worked in partnership with Tampnet for many years, providing colocation services and core networking links between its main Points of Presence (PoPs), before delivering the latest dark fibre connection between Aberdeen and London,” said Colin Sempill, Managing Director of Neos Networks. “Tampnet is in a unique position to provide connectivity between Scandinavia and the UK and we are delighted that this latest network project will enable it to meet growing demand and realise future business objectives.”

Commsworld scores a connectivity hole in one with Neos Networks

  • Neos Networks

London, UK, 29 September 2015 Neos Networks, the UK’s leading provider of network infrastructure and data centre services, and part of the SSE Group – today announced that its scalable network solutions have enabled Commsworld to deliver ultra-reliable and high-capacity internet connectivity to major sporting events and festivals in Scotland over the summer.

While demand for bandwidth has grown exponentially, so too has the installed-base of Commsworld’s ‘Fluency’ network which it acquired in 2012. In fact, Commsworld supplies internet connectivity to festivals – including the Edinburgh Festival – and world famous, highly prestigious sporting events taking place in Scotland and beyond. Such large events typically require vast amounts of bandwidth. Commsworld has invested heavily building it’s Fluency network out into metro-areas within Scotland’s largest cities, but needed to ensure its national backhaul connections into London and Manchester were capable of supporting the increasing bandwidth requirements of even its most demanding clients in the events industry.

In order to guarantee its customers had access to fast and ultra-reliable internet access, Commsworld relied on Neos Networks’ expertise to increase the capacity of its optical wavelengths quickly, without compromising the quality of the service. The Fluency network now benefits from far greater capacity on its national routes between Edinburgh, London and Manchester. This extra capacity not only accommodates organic growth, it also enables Commsworld to seamlessly cope with peaks in demand from major events without risking network congestion.

“As a company, we have experienced rapid growth in recent years and now supply internet access to a number of leading events across Scotland and beyond,” said Charlie Boisseau, CTO of Commsworld. “Supplying significant bandwidth requirements to festivals and other popular sporting events means that we need flexible optical backhaul providers on-board that can allow us to meet huge peaks in demand without causing network congestion.

“Having worked closely with Neos Networks for many years, we were confident that scaling our optical network as and when needed would be quick and painless. Indeed, summer 2015 has been an excellent example of how Neos Networks ticks all of the boxes for us. With one of the most significant Scottish-based sporting events on the calendar and the Edinburgh Festival to contend with, we were able to almost immediately scale two of our major national backhaul connections to deliver the impeccable level of service that our customers have come to expect from us.”

While lead times for higher capacity services can take up to 90 days, Neos Networks takes pride in beating the industry standard and completed the latest project initiative within just a week, giving Commsworld the confidence that the connectivity requirements of its sporting venue customers would be met in plenty of time. Commsworld is also dedicated to keeping latency as low as is physically possible over its Fluency network, which was also an important factor in its selection of Neos Networks’ low latency optical networking services.

Boisseau continued: “As for the network team itself, our account director has been excellent, but we can also call on the expertise of Neos Networks as a whole and so have experienced the best of both worlds when it comes to customer service and delivery.”

“The summer can be a very busy time for any company that counts major sporting events and festivals as clients,” said Colin Sempill, managing director of Neos Networks. “With our agile network in place, Commsworld can easily accommodate peaks in demand for its services. Indeed, by rapidly scaling the capacity of its major national network connections, it has been able to support one of the most significant events in the sporting calendar this year.”

As a company, we have experienced rapid growth in recent years and now supply internet access to a number of leading events across Scotland and beyond.

Neos Networks upgrades HighNet’s core network to support burgeoning ISP business

  • Neos Networks

London, 27 May 2015 Neos Networks, the UK’s leading provider of network infrastructure and data centre services, and part of the SSE Group, has extended its existing partnership with HighNet, by upgrading its core network to 10Gb to meet increased customer demand following the rapid growth of its Internet Service Provider (ISP) business.

Initially established to serve the Highlands of Scotland, HighNet has ambitious plans for business growth and in 2011, set out to become a fully-fledged national ISP.  In order to achieve this, HighNet turned to Neos Networks to help extend its national network footprint and build a private national ISP infrastructure to deliver resilient and scalable solutions – including connectivity, mobile data, disaster recovery and converged voice and data services – to enterprises across the UK.  While the original project was expected to run for five years, HighNet’s objectives were met a year ahead of schedule.  This, coupled with a dramatic increase in customer demand for HighNet’s ISP services, prompted its latest requirement to upgrade the network.  The 10Gb network capability will not only allow HighNet to support its many new and existing customers; it will also enable it to deliver wholesale services and become a network aggregator as well as an ISP.

“Since partnering with Neos Networks in 2011, with the aim of expanding our ISP business, we’ve experienced double digit growth, achieving 17 percent growth over the last year alone,” said David Alldritt, technology and innovation director at HighNet.  “Our initial requirement was for a scalable UK-wide solution, offering the most comprehensive geographical presence possible, to grow our customer base.  This has more than been met within four years, which is significantly sooner than we anticipated.  Following this great success, we’re keen to ensure that our business continues to grow and we can now be confident that we can keep up with the increased demand from our new and existing customers.”

Neos Networks’ scalable network solution and high-specification, UK-wide co-location facilities, underpin HighNet’s range of enterprise-class services and have played a key part in the impressive growth it has seen over recent years.  The newly upgraded network solution was rapidly provisioned by Neos Networks’ highly skilled and experienced team, who provided a significant amount of support right from the initial deployment stage to the present day.  HighNet has benefited from working with the same team from day one and the strong partnership between the two companies has been instrumental in building HighNet’s network from the ground-up.

Alldritt continued: “The consistency of Neos Networks’ team has made all the difference.  Everyone from our account director to the network architect involved in the original deployment is still onboard, which is something of a rarity in the telecoms business!  Not only does this make working together an easier and more enjoyable process, it also ensures that everyone fully understands our business and so are well placed to help us meet our future objectives.”

“HighNet has enjoyed much success since we began working together in 2011, so much so that customer demand had begun to outstrip capacity,” said Colin Sempill, managing director of Neos Networks.  “As HighNet was confident of the proven quality and reliability of our network services, we were the first port of call to deliver the 10Gb core network upgrade needed to continue to grow the business.  Our partnership with HighNet has been extremely successful to date and we look forward to continuing to work together as its ISP business continues to flourish.”

About HighNet

Founded in 1994, HighNet initially marketed call routing services to customers in the Highlands of Scotland and the company has been expanding its service portfolio and geographical reach ever since.   Today, HighNet is Scotland’s leading business communications provider, providing access to a wide range of telecoms services, while always ensuring a high level of service and value for money for its customers.  The company’s services are sold through more than 120 channel partners across the country.

Neos Networks launches LIGHTNOW Manchester to provide waves in a week within the city and to London

  • Neos Networks

High speed, ultra-resilient networking service now links nine LIGHTNOW Manchester data centres with 21 in London.

London, April 14, 2015: Neos Networks, the UK’s leading provider of network infrastructure services and part of the SSE Group, today announced that it is launching Manchester LIGHTNOW, a new high-capacity, ultra-resilient optical networking service, providing 1Gb and 10Gb wavelength connectivity between nine of the busiest data centres in the Manchester and between dedicated LIGHTNOW data centres in London and Manchester. Manchester LIGHTNOW follows the latest announcement of Neos Networks bringing seven new Manchester-based data centres on-net and builds on the success of the LIGHTNOW service in the London area.

The Manchester data centres will benefit from 1Gb and 10Gb optical wavelengths between commercial data centres, with sub 1ms latency, which can be rapidly provisioned within a week. Neos Networks is offering customers flexible contract durations which start at three months, a zero charge set-up option, in-life circuit moves between any of the on-net data centres real time, and 24/7 support, all at extremely competitive rates.

“When we first launched our LIGHTNOW service, we were serving the demand from businesses for high capacity connectivity between data centres in London,” said Colin Sempill, managing director of Neos Networks.  “We could see that increasingly more data centre managers were choosing to use a combination of data centres to best suit the requirements of their data – whether that be high security, maximum availability or the need for speed – but they weren’t willing to compromise on service.  These ‘pro-locators’, as we called them, are now emerging in Manchester too, most likely due to the booming business in the area and resulting increase in data, and they also require faster data centre links both within the Manchester area and to London.”

Manchester LIGHTNOW provides meshed connectivity in and around the city and on to London.  It follows the original debut of the service in London, where Neos Networks connects 21 of the busiest data centres.  The original LIGHTNOW London service formed part of the extensive network expansion, dubbed Project Edge, which saw Neos Networks increase the reach of its fibre network to more than 12,000km with a total of 234 points of presence, serving more than 200,000 metropolitan business postcodes, nationwide.

“The expansion of the LIGHTNOW service builds on its success in London and demonstrates Neos Networks’ commitment to delivering ultra-high capacity connectivity services.  Our ambition is to design a data centre portfolio that makes a real difference to our customers, supported by a network infrastructure that has no tolerance for downtime,” concluded Sempill.

The Manchester data centres connected by Neos Networks are as follows:  DataCentred, Dock 10 – Media City, M247, Telecity Group (Williams House), Telecity Group (Reynolds House), Telecity Group (Synergy House), UKFast – MaNOC 6, Telecity Group (Joule House) and Telecity Group (Kilburn House).

LIGHTNOW is powered by Ciena’s 6500 Packet-Optical Platform, equipped with WaveLogic coherent optics. The service leverages the 6500’s ROADM bridge features, which ensure full agility for the provisioning and routing of wavelengths, underpinning the “wavelength in a week” service pledge.

The expansion of the LIGHTNOW service builds on its success in London and demonstrates Neos Networks’ commitment to delivering ultra-high capacity connectivity services. Our ambition is to design a data centre portfolio that makes a real difference to our customers, supported by a network infrastructure that has no tolerance for downtime.

Neos Networks lights up seven Manchester data centres as it continues UK-wide network expansion

  • Neos Networks

Neos Networks has added seven major Manchester data centres to its lists of on-net PoPs.

London, March 10, 2015: Neos Networks, the UK’s leading provider of network infrastructure services and part of the SSE Group, today announced that it is adding seven new Manchester data centres in the city centre to its high capacity, high availability national network, continuing its nationwide programme to connect the UK’s most popular data centres to demanding customers across the world.

The data centres that are now fully participating members of the Neos Networks’ national optical network in Manchester are:

  • DataCentred
  • Dock 10 – Media City
  • M247
  • Telecity Group, Williams House
  • Telecity Group, Reynolds House
  • Telecity Group, Synergy House
  • UKFast – MaNOC 6

NB: Telecity Group, Joule House and Telecity Group, Kilburn House in Manchester were already “on-net”.

Neos Networks has taken the decision to invest in Manchester due to its status as Britain’s second largest city and the increasing numbers of businesses, including the BBC, that are choosing to relocate there. The Office of National Statistics (ONS) reported this year that Manchester had the highest growth rate of all Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) areas in England; experiencing growth of 4.6 percent (£2.5 billion) in 2013. The sustained inward investment in Manchester has resulted in a marked increase in software development and IT services businesses in the region. Couple that with a commensurate increase in demand for faster and more reliable access to the cloud computing service that are hosted in the city’s data centres and the investment rationale for Neos Networks was clear.

By adding these seven data centres to its nationwide community of similarly connected sites, Neos Networks is now better able to support enterprises in Manchester, and to help those organisations connect to customers, suppliers and partners at extremely high speeds, and with Neos Networks characteristically high availability network they can do this nationwide.

“Our decision to bring seven new data centres on-net in and around Manchester, the UK’s second largest city and business hub, is in line with our continued focus on delivering our ultra reliable and high quality Ethernet and optical networking services to the UK’s most demanding enterprises,” said Colin Sempill, managing director of Neos Networks.  “We look forward to furthering our nationwide reach, with Manchester playing a key part of our strategic network expansion plans.”

This latest initiative follows the recent completion of the first phase of Neos Networks’ ambitious network expansion plan, Project Edge, which increased the reach of its fibre network to more than 12,000+km with a total of 234 points of presence, serving more than 200,000 metropolitan business postcodes, nationwide.

Neos Networks, brightsolid and Tampnet join forces to offer unprecedented network speed and bandwidth in Aberdeen and beyond

  • Neos Networks

Aberdeen data centre to be connected to 100Gbps network for brightsolid and Tampnet’s next-gen connectivity project.

London, February 25, 2015 Neos Networks, the UK’s leading provider of network infrastructure and data centre services, and part of the SSE Group, today announced an exciting new venture with partners brightsolid, the cloud hosting and data centre service provider, and Tampnet, the offshore network operator. Neos Networks will install a new, state-of-art Ciena platform which connects brightsolid’s new Aberdeen data centre to its 100Gb UK-wide network and will allow it the bandwidth and speed to service the growing oil and gas industry within Aberdeen. With Tampnet, this connectivity also has the potential to extend to off-shore facilities in the North Sea.

With a raft of oil and gas and other commercial companies choosing to locate themselves in Europe’s energy capital, it’s paramount that the carrier-neutral brightsolid data centre can offer a resilient network with unrivalled speed and bandwidth that extends the reach of Aberdeen. Neos Networks’ engineering heritage and its trusted relationship with brightsolid means that prospective businesses looking to operate out of Aberdeen will benefit from the new Ciena platform which will deliver the speed, low latency and bandwidth promised. The UK-wide high-speed links combined with the energy efficiency of brightsolid’s Aberdeen data centre make it a viable alternative for businesses no matter where in the country they are physically located.

“brightsolid will deliver a world class data centre to customers in Aberdeen, one that has state-of-the-art connectivity across the UK and offshore thanks to Tampnet,” said Richard Higgs, CEO of brightsolid. “Our mission is to deliver technical innovation with a personal service, and together with Neos Networks’ shared ethos, the communications service we are delivering will be world class; somewhere that can facilitate the growing trend to migrate assets to the cloud without concern for capacity, security or speed.”

For Aberdeen, the partnership between these three companies – which are at the heart of the data and telecoms industry – will have long-lasting benefits, far beyond connectivity. Councillor George Adam, Lord Provost of Aberdeen, recently said at the Transform Digital: Aberdeen Conference that for every £1 invested in IT and tech in Aberdeen it generates £20. With £1 million having been invested by Neos Networks and £5 million from brightsolid, this project has the potential to generate £120 million worth of growth for the future of Aberdeen. What’s more, this is only the first stage of a phased investment plan, which aims to elevate the city to a vital hub of technical innovation and communications excellence, which will allow both businesses and the local community to flourish.

“The partnership between ourselves, brightsolid and Tampnet will provide huge advantages for Aberdeen and the oil and gas industry from the moment the data centre opens its doors,” said Colin Sempill, managing director at Neos Networks. “brightsolid will act as a critical data centre hub, and our ultra-resilient network will provide the roads to and from it, made more significant by the co-operation of Tampnet, which extends this connectivity even further afield. We are committed to investing in the future of UK telecommunications and this latest project will serve to get customers connected quicker, to a reliable network, that will serve demand both now and in the future.”

“The future of the oil and gas industry will shape businesses and consumers alike; making reliable and flexible connectivity absolutely essential,” said Trygves Hagevik, sales director at Tampnet. “It’s not enough, however, to just have good connectivity off-shore or onshore. These need to link together and be able to do so quickly. This is what our latest partnership with brightsolid and Neos Networks will deliver; ensuring our customers have a guaranteed level of service across the UK. After all, you’re only as reliable as your weakest link.”

Brightsolid

brightsolid are a cloud and application hosting specialist that own and operate data centres in North East Scotland that are connected by the UK wide brightsolid network. For the last 20 years brightsolid have been working to help organisations in the Energy, Public Sector and Enterprise sectors reduce the risk and cost of their IT estate through the adoption of latest technologies. A family owned business with company values at its core, brightsolid’s mission is to deliver technical innovation with personal service that surpasses customer expectation.

Tampnet

Tampnet is said to operate the largest offshore high capacity communication network in the world, carrying traffic for approximately 220 platforms in the North Sea and Gulf of Mexico. Pioneering the industry, the company has developed a high capacity, resilient and low latency communication network of fibre backbone cables, radio access links and 4G connections, serving both the Norwegian and the UK sectors. Its goal is to become the preferred offshore network provider, and the company is constantly expanding the infrastructure and improving services and capacity. Recently Tampnet is also proving to be successful in the telecommunications transit market between Scandinavia and UK.

Tampnet was established, in 2001, by Statoil. In November, 2012, EQT acquired Tampnet to further develop the company in the North Sea and in the global arena to enable clients to fully implement their collaboration and Integrated Operations strategies.

CableCom selects Neos Networks to deliver reliable Ethernet in data-intensive environments

  • Neos Networks

Neos Networks will now deliver backhaul capacity and point-to-point Ethernet circuits for managed internet service provider.

London, 7 October 2014 – Neos Networks, the UK’s leading provider of network infrastructure and data centre services, and part of the SSE Group – has today announced that it will be the principle provider of backhaul capacity to nine unbundled BT Exchanges of managed internet service provider, CableCom Networking, as well as delivering point-to-point Ethernet circuits, to connect 12 of the company’s London customer sites.

The BT Exchange backhaul capacity consists of GigE and 10Gb circuits, to ensure that CableCom can offer high capacity, ultra resilient bandwidth. These installations went live in September for CableCom’s end customers.

Following a competitive tender, Neos Networks was chosen due to its vast network. Having extended the number of Points of Presence (PoPs) across the UK by 62 in the recent Project Edge network expansion, Neos Networks became a natural fit to meet the Ethernet requirements of CableCom and its customers.

“We are proud to offer our customers a resilient and high-capacity network, especially in the data-intensive environments we often face,” said Rhys Thomas, group operations director at CableCom. “It is extremely important that we evaluate our network suppliers to ensure that we can deliver this level of service to customers, and the recent Project Edge network expansion by Neos Networks has made this an easy decision. We now not only have a network provider that’s renowned for its engineering prowess, but one that also makes complete business sense.”

CableCom typically provides data networks to high volume users; such as students, key workers and those in residential accommodation. It, therefore, has to ensure there is enough capacity to facilitate this high usage and that the service delivered is as reliable as possible, irrespective of the number of devices trying to access the network or the amount of information being downloaded.

“Providing reliable internet services in a multi-device world can be challenging, particularly when end users, such as students, have high bandwidth requirements,” said Colin Sempill, managing director at Neos Networks. “We make it our mission to solve network capacity and reliability issues for customers. Always-on connectivity is an absolute necessity and we’re thrilled to be providing CableCom with a network infrastructure that allows its customers to reap the rewards of dependable connectivity.”

About CableCom

CableCom Networking (CableCom), is a leading provider of managed internet and digital media services to high density, principally student, accommodation throughout the UK.

CableCom designs, installs and manages the networks required to deliver broadband connectivity and digital media services to student accommodation, social housing and key worker accommodation under long term contracts. It has grown rapidly through a focus on technical excellence, high levels of customer service and by maintaining strong partnerships with investors in the sector.

“We are proud to offer our customers a resilient and high-capacity network, especially in the data-intensive environments we often face.”
