Our ESG approach - Neos Networks

Our ESG approach

Discover how we’re supporting Environmental, Social and Corporate Governance practices across our business, embedding sustainability in everything we do.

At Neos Networks we’re committed to becoming a sustainable business.

Now is the time to declare our commitments in support of this and start delivering against these to implement positive change across our company, the industry, and the planet.

It is through finding solutions, doing what's right and caring that we’ll build a better, more sustainable business for the future.

How we can impact and influence our future

There are three key pillars that support our ESG framework; Planet, People and Practices. We feel these pillars influence positive change, helping us to grow and develop a more sustainable business.

Planet: We recognise the importance of protecting our planet. We plan to do this through setting achievable targets that will help us be Net Zero by 2030:

Taking environmental action
We seek to minimise new digs to protect biodiversity habitats on our sites. We're investigating in carbon offsetting schemes, including peatland restoration. It's important we also maintain our environmental management system certification (ISO14001). Additionally, as part of our volunteering days we have contributed towards different biodiversity events to improve community settings.
Climate impact
Annually we publish both our Carbon Reduction Plan and our Net Zero Pledge. We continue to monitor and report on our carbon emissions, to meet our Net Zero Pledge of 2030 for scope 1 and 3 emissions.
Waste management
Our business is fully supportive of reducing, reusing and recycling waste. We recycle in our offices and are making a conscious effort to minimise printing, in the event that we do print we only print on recycled paper. On site, we seek to reduce excavation and disposal. On projects we've established a recycling and reuse framework for decommissioning components to reduce landfill.

People: Our people, whether that be customers, colleagues or our local community, are at the heart of everything we do. We recognise the importance of supporting them through:

Being inclusive and diverse

Being an inclusive and diverse company is key to our success and making sure everyone feels comfortable within their role is key to a successful business.

Annually we release our gender pay gap report and we are always looking to reduce the gap. We also understand the importance of family life offering a competitive maternity package for both mums, dads and those considering adoption.

We are proud to be a member of Inclusive Employers.

Finally, we have a neurodiversity cupboard that all employees can access to support their needs.

Stakeholder and community engagement

Understanding and playing our part in supporting local communities is key to any successful business, which is why we have a number of ways our employees can contribute. From volunteering days, Matched Funding, fundraising events and supporting our chosen charity, Mental Health UK.

We also have our own official STEM Ambassadors who visit local educational settings, helping to inspire young people as they embark on their careers.

Culture & great place to work

We’ve introduced a ‘work your way’ initiative to the business. This enables us to support our colleagues with flexible/hybrid working, while also enabling them (and in turn us) to reduce our carbon footprint. We also have an ongoing focus on being a great place to work, holding regular surveys and feedback sessions to really get under the skin of how our colleagues think and feel about the business.

Practices: A truly sustainable business should be able to demonstrate credibility, authenticity and integrity, which is why our practices are key to our ESG framework:

Data & cyber security
Protecting our data, our networks and our IT systems is crucial. Making sure our customers connections are secure and all sensitive information is safeguarded is our key priority. We are proud to be certified ISO27001 – Security Management.
Governance & responsibility
We have a number of embedded corporate policies across our business and include assessments on sustainability in all our gate reviews and bid processes. We also work to IS020400 guidelines to drive sustainability within our supply chain process.
Safety and wellbeing
It’s imperative that people feel safe, secure and heard in any organisation. Here at Neos Networks, we hold regular mental health and wellbeing events. We have invested in training and development for a cohort of mental health first aiders, we also ensure we maintain our safety and health management system certification (ISO45001) Occupational Health and Safety and (ISO45003) Psychological Health & Safety.
Employee consultation forums (ECF)
We're proud to have an internal ECF where representatives are selected by employees. The consultation forum helps shape the business decisions, improve performance and represents the voice of colleagues.
ESG related e-learning
We have our own ESG e-Learning to support colleagues. This module educates employees on ESG, the importance and how they can get involved to support our our ESG goals. The module is updated every two years to support engagement and further learning to the end user.
