The challenge
Cloud migration, AI adoption and real-time applications are driving customer bandwidth demands to new heights. To stay ahead as the company expands into new regions, Brightsolid needed:
- High capacity optical connectivity between London and its Scottish data centres in Dundee and Aberdeen
- Rapid scalability across the UK to meet surging data demands
Brightsolid delivers a diverse portfolio of services, from low latency connections to major cloud platforms such as AWS and Microsoft Azure, through to its own managed cloud offerings.
To support future growth and ensure consistency of performance for customers, the new connectivity solution needed to provide the capacity, resilience and scalability required as the business continues to grow across these services nationwide.
The solution
Neos Networks delivered diverse 100Gbps optical connectivity between Brightsolid’s Scottish data centres and London, integrating them into its national backbone. Combined with Neos’s resilient ring topology in Scotland, the new connectivity enables Brightsolid to grow rapidly while maintaining the uptime and performance its customers rely on.
First of all, that means new capacity. “Our customers will be able to benefit from ultrahigh capacity links to our data centres and points of presence – Aberdeen, Dundee, Edinburgh and London,” said Andy Sinclair, CTO at Brightsolid.
Second, scalability. “Today almost all our customers tend to ask for resilient 10Gbps internet connectivity,” Sinclair said. “This new connectivity will allow us to service those customers almost on demand and consistently scale up as and when our customers need.”
Third, cost-efficiency. “It will be a far more economical solution for our existing customers,” Sinclair said.
And trust underpins everything. “As a provider of critical national infrastructure, we only want to commit to partners we know we can trust to deliver. That’s why we chose CNI provider Neos to support our national network across the UK,” he added.
The outcome
Brightsolid now has a resilient, high capacity backbone to support its next growth phase. Neos Networks delivers critical backhaul across the UK, enabling Brightsolid to meet massive increases in demand.
To support its ambition to be the MSP of choice for AWS and Microsoft Azure, as well as its own cloud services, Brightsolid now has the capacity and resilience it needs to grow.
“Working with Neos enables our customers to reach any of these cloud platforms at the lowest possible latency at the capacity they require,” said Sinclair.
The impact has been immediate. Due to growing demand, Brightsolid will increase its public internet presence at least tenfold over the next three months.
Brightsolid has expanded into Manchester, a strategic move supported by Neos’s strong presence in the region.
Looking ahead, Brightsolid plans to continue expansion, leveraging Neos’s high capacity UK-wide network.
