Neos Networks is proud to announce it has been delivered and handed over Janet’s core network Janet6 ahead of schedule.
Phase one of Janet6 consisted of 3,000km of fibre and 21 co-location facilities built exclusively for Janet’s core network. Janet is now in the process of deploying their DWDM equipment to light the network.
Neos Networks will now complete commissioning the four regional fibre networks which together will become the UK-wide Janet6 network. Neos Networks’ dedicated project team worked alongside Janet’s team to ensure challenges were overcome at every stage. This led to early decision making with a high level of focus in achieving the project milestones. Issues were identified early, driving the core network delivery ahead of schedule.
“Getting Janet6 in place on time and within budget is a critical objective for Janet. The fibre and co-location infrastructure provided by Neos Networks are the foundations of the new network and it’s a testament to the strong partnership between Neos Networks and Janet that the first phase of the fibre infrastructure has been delivered ahead of schedule.” Jeremy Sharp, Head of Strategic Technologies, Janet.
Commenting on handing over the network early, Chris Jagusz, Managing Director of Neos Networks, said: “We were delighted with the synergies between the operation’s teams within Janet and Neos Networks. Because of this, the core sites have been delivered early and to the complete satisfaction of the customer. This is what Neos Networks prides itself in being able to deliver. We look forward to working with Janet on the final phases to deliver the Janet6 network for the research and education community for many years to come.”
