Our commitment to sustainability

At Neos Networks, sustainability is integral to our mission. We’re making connectivity work for Britain, guided by our commitment to the planet, people and responsible practices.

Our ESG approach

Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) principles shape how we work, inspired by our core values:

  • We find solutions: working as a team with customers, we develop long-term, sustainable solutions that work for everyone.
  • We do what’s right: we aim to reduce our environmental impact on the planet and leave it as we found it, if not better.
  • We care: we welcome everyone and look after our people, customers and the wider community.

Our ESG strategy is built on three pillars – Planet, People and Practices. That starts with tackling our climate impact.

Our Net Zero Pledge

Why net zero?

Our planet is heating up at an alarming rate. If we don’t act on climate change, the consequences could be devastating.

That’s why we’ve committed to aligning our carbon reduction targets with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), setting clear, evidence-based goals to reach net zero.

Our net zero commitment

We’ve pledged to reach net zero across our Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions by 2030:

  • Scope 1: direct emissions from sources we own or control, like company vehicles.
  • Scope 2: indirect emissions from the energy we buy to power our sites and services.

We’re also working to cut our Scope 3 emissions, linked to our wider supply chain and business travel, to reach net zero across all scopes by 2050.

Our Carbon Reduction Plan

Reaching net zero means having a clear, realistic plan to get there.

What we've done so far

  • Cut emissions from our operations and business travel
  • Switched to REGO-certified electricity at all owned sites
  • Replaced legacy tech with more energy-efficient alternatives
  • Rolled out EV schemes and low-carbon construction methods

What we aim to do

  • Reduce energy use across offices and network sites
  • Electrify our vehicle fleet and expand EV charging
  • Gather better Scope 3 data from our supply chain
  • Explore carbon offsetting in line with SBTi guidance

Our ESG Strategy: Planet, People and Practices

These three pillars guide how we operate, make decisions and deliver on our sustainability goals.

Planet

Climate impact
We’re cutting Scope 1 and 2 emissions – down more than 60% since 2021. We now run all owned sites on 100% REGO-backed renewable electricity.
Environmental action
Smarter energy use, sustainable design and clear policies keep us on track. We’re ISO 14001 certified (Environmental Management).
Waste management
We reuse, repurpose or sell old tech we need to replace during network upgrades. This reduces landfill, saves money and cuts emissions.

People

Equality, diversity and inclusion
We celebrate difference and create space for everyone to thrive through training, awareness days and inclusive hiring. We also have ambassadors trained through external platforms to help embed change.
Stakeholders and community
We support local groups, schools and charities through volunteering, donations and STEM outreach programmes. Our people regularly give their time to make a real impact.
Culture
We create a workplace where wellbeing, learning and inclusion come first. Our employee forums, surveys and training help shape a positive, open culture.

Practices

Cybersecurity
We protect critical infrastructure through rigorous compliance and training. We’re aligned with the Telecoms Security Act and certified to the latest ISO 27001:2022 (Information Security).
Safety and wellbeing
We give everyone the tools and support to work safely and sustainably. We’re certified to ISO 45001 for physical safety and ISO 45003 for psychological health. We also invest in mental health first aiders and host weekly Hatha yoga sessions.
Governance
Strong governance underpins every part of our ESG strategy. We’re certified across five ISO standards and engage employees through elected consultation forums.

Putting ESG into practice

Driving down emissions

Lighting at our HQ has been upgraded with energy-efficient LED and PIR systems, and operational sites are powered through renewable energy supply contracts. A salary sacrifice scheme gives employees access to EVs to reduce commuting-related emissions.

Expanding more sustainably

We’re using Physical Infrastructure Access (PIA) to install new fibre through existing ducts and poles. This reduces carbon emissions, construction waste and disruption to local communities.

Sharing knowledge, shaping futures

From STEM workshops to student placements, we’re sharing our skills to support future talent. Our teams also volunteer, raise funds and partner with charities to make a difference in local communities.

Raising standards

We’re certified across five key areas, from environmental management to cybersecurity. These standards shape how we train teams and deliver safe, secure services every day.
